Mix And Match FAQs
It's common for brides to choose the palette for their bridesmaid dresses before the rest of the wedding party. Our rule of thumb is to pair tan groomsmen suits with pastel or lighter toned bridesmaid dresses (especially for spring and summer weddings!), light gray groomsmen suits for both pastel and slightly dustier tones, like Eucalyptus or Twilight. Our darker toned groomsmen suits, like navy, charcoal, and black pair well with jewel tones and moodier bridesmaid dresses. Black groomsmen suits and tuxedos particular also pair well with neutral bridesmaid dress colors, like champagne, navy, or black, for black tie weddings. The first step to choosing the right suit color is to order free swatches (for both groomsmen suits and bridesmaid dresses!) and see them side-by-side IRL before committing. You can always get 3 free bridesmaid dress swatches and a free groomsmen suit swatch book anytime.
We did a great amount of research around this and found that most wedding parties opt for a classic color like black or gray, or a lighter-colored suit for warmer seasons. We wanted to start out with a curated selection of the top colors that can pair back to our bridesmaid dresses. However, that's not to say we won't be introducing more colors in the near future!
Yes, we offer tons of matching groomsmen neck ties, groomsmen bow ties, and groomsmen pocket squares! When choosing a tie for your wedding, you can go one of 3 ways. You can either match the ties to the bridesmaid dress color exactly (for example, a terracotta tie for groomsmen, and terracotta dresses for the bridesmaids). The second option is to choose a neutral shade for the ties, like taupe, neutral champagne, navy, or black. We suggest lighter neutral shades against lighter family colors or pastels for bridesmaid dresses (for example, neutral champagne ties with pale blush bridesmaid dresses), or darker neutral ties with moody, jewel toned dresses (for example, black bow ties with emerald gree bridesmaid dresses). Lastly, you can go for a tone-on-tone look and stick to a family of color. For example, you can opt for navy bow ties for the groomsmen, and twilight bridesmaid dresses for the bridal party.
It's really up to you! Plenty of grooms choose to wear the exact same suit or tuxedo as their groomsmen. However, if you're looking to stand out a little on your wedding day, there are a few options. The groom can 1) opt for a different tuxedo while the groomsmen wear groomsmen suits; 2) wear a different color suit from the groomsmen, like a black suit paired with charcoal groomsmen suits; 3) add a vest to your look to add more of a formal flair. At the end of the day, just make sure you and the guys are looking sharp and that you look cohesive for all those wedding photos!
